There can be dozens of operations within a refinery that create energy. Unfortunately, most of this energy goes to waste. Dow Oil & Gas offers heat transfer systems that can take waste energy and repurpose it to power other processes within a plant.

Unlike mineral oil, our heat transfer fluids can reach higher temperatures without degrading, scaling or corroding a unit or system. They can also increase the efficiency of the heat transfer while maximizing energy savings. Dow offers a wide range of performance fluids, like DOWTHERM™ and SYLTHERM™^1† heat transfer fluids, which can address a wide range of temperatures and fluid life requirements. In fact, SYLTHERM™ and DOWTHERM™ can absorb and maintain more heat per unit volume than other fluid options, making them more effective and efficient, saving energy and expense.

DOWTHERM™ high-temperature thermal fluids include products in recommended operating temperatures ranging from as high as 400° C (750° F) down to -80° C (-110° F). These products are highly stable within their operating ranges and offer excellent long-term heat transfer performance.

SYLTHERM™ silicone fluids are long-lasting, odorless low-viscosity fluids that offer excellent heat transfer performance and can provide exceptionally long service life (often more than 10 years) without periodic reclaiming. In addition, SYLTHERM™ 800 Fluid has a very broad operating range.
